It was one of those kind of days – my mind was in one place, my body in another, my thoughts over there and my emotions everywhere!  Somebody stop me please!

The day started out rather well this morning (for the Monday after a super busy weekend, of course!).  Unfortunately, I woke up to some chilly June weather – I don’t think we even hit 60 degrees today!  Come on Mother Nature, it’s June.  Send us some sun!  Fortunately, it was the perfect weather for a bowl of warm, yummy oatmeal

1/3 cup rolled oats + 1 tbsp. oat bran
water
1 sliced banana
1/4 cup raspberries
1/4 cup pecans
2 tbsp. unsweetened shredded coconut
drizzle o’ honey

I swear the oatmeal is in there somewhere…

Work actually went pretty well today, especially since I had wrapped myself in one of my favorite scarves to keep me warm.  Seriously people, it was that cold out.  The morning flew by and around 11am, I was beyond excited to try my very first Cinnamon Roll Larabar!!!!

Ummm…hello!  My new favorite without a doubt!

#1: Cinnamon Roll
#2: Coconut Cream Pie
#3: Cherry Pie

I still have a few left to try (including a Lemon Pie I finally got my hands on!), but this is what I got so far…what about y’all?  What’s your favorite Lara?

During my lunch hour, I snuck over to the gym (conveniently located about 200 feet away from our office – LUCKY, I know!) for a quick lunchtime workout.  I hopped on the elliptical for 30 minutes on an interval course and pedaled my little heart out.  I stretched for a good 15 minutes after since my calves and abs are STILL sore from the dance party of Saturday night :).  After the indulgent weekend I had, I know it’s time to get back down to business eating- and exercise-wise.  Unfortunately, I did NOT pick a good day to start that, but more on that later…

Lunch was delish – a garden salad (spinach, cucumber, tomato, carrots, sunflower seeds + Newman’s Sesame Ginger vinaigrette) along with some Stacy’s Pita Chips in Tuscan Herb flavor.

The rest of the work day went pretty well – I snacked on a nice lemon yogurt, strawberry + muesli combo around 4pm to stave off hunger, knowing that I was going to be playing beach volleyball later.

You may be asking, “Well Holly, I thought Wednesdays are beach volleyball nights?” and you would be correct.  However, it is one of my best friend’s Megan’s birthday today, and she needed some subs for her Monday night league.  Holly and company to the rescue!  Unfortunately, the game was at 6:15pm, which means I had to haul buns from work, over to our friend’s apartment to meet and then drive another 1/2 hour or so to the courts.

Hence an unphotographed dinner of a veggie Chipotle burrito bowl (I almost wrote bowel, haha!) on the run…

1/2 cup cilantro rice
black beans
fajita veggies
lettuce
mild salsa (aka tomatoes)
guacamole

According to our friend, the Chipotle calculator, dinner came in at an estimated 500 calories (although I am thinking more – they were very generous with the guac :)).

Tonight was a very important night, not only was it Meggy Moo’s 25th birthday, but we won tonight!  We won 2 out of the 3 games – woowoo!  Give it up!  We celebrated with a couple beers (I only had a couple sips of a Miller Lite), and then 4 of us ladies split a basket of sweet potato fries.  Unfortunately, I’m not talking the baked healthy kind…

The birthday gal with her celebration beer!

Naturally, we had to go out for ice cream afterwards.  I mean, what’s a birthday without ice cream?  We ended up chugging it through the McDonald’s drive thru for some sundaes and McFlurries.  I’m not going to lie, that Reese’s McFlurry had been calling my name all night, and dang, was it ever good!

However, this week has not been the best eating/exercising/healthy living week.  I of course had SO MUCH FUN celebrating weddings and birthdays, but it’s time for this girl to get her buns back on track.  I know we’ve all been there, so….

What do you all do when you feel like you’ve fallen off the wagon a bit?  Please share with us your tips for getting back on track.

My first step is going to be to get to bed and get a good night’s sleep – studies show that when you get a good night’s sleep, you not only feel better but are much more likely to grab healthy options (instead of munchin’ on the treat stuff!).  Good night to all, and have a good one!

When I feel like I’ve fallen off the wagon, I just try to put it behind me and resume my healthy habits ASAP. I try to remember that one or two days of not-so-healthy food won’t make me “fat.” I’m working on that…I’ve had trouble remembering that in the past!

    Have a good day! 🙂

  2. Sounds like FUN…and don’t worry, a few days won’t ruin all your fitness and nutritious lifestyle. 😀

Usually I’ll just exercise a little more the following days, eat normal, whole foods based on my hunger, and include lots of veggies (because my body is typically craving them after not having as much.)

And, a good night’s rest sounds like the perfect idea. I never really pick up on it, but now that you mention it, it does make a HUGE difference in how I decide to eat or exercise for the rest of the day.

    Glad you had fun! 😀

Oh goodness I used to live off of mcflurries and blizzards! so good lol. After falling off the wagon I usually just eat “lighter” and make sure I work-out. Although I’m still working at not being so hard on myself!

girlfriend we all have our weekends.. don’t let it get you down.. we DESERVE these weekends.. we DESERVE mcflurries.. life is too short to deny ourselves of such sweet treats every so often =)

    happy Tuesday, love!

wow- i must try that cinnamon roll lara bar pronto! My favorites are cherry pie and apple pie- although i must confess that I have not tried all to many flavors as of now. I had peanut butter cookie- liked it alot but cherry pie/apple pie are my favs.

I know what you mean about a weekend of partying/indulging–makes you feel like crap after awhile. I mean it is okay to live it up once in awhile- actually its a good thing- but you gotta eventually put your foot down and get back in the swing of things! I tend to do what you do- go to bed early- and even if im not hungry in the morning i always have something healthy when i wake up. I like to workout first thing too- and that usually will get me back on track.

As far as my bike went….I looked around alot- Trek, fuji, giant, cannondale, and even ebay and craigslist. road bikes are expensive! and if you want a decent one you should expect to pay close to 1000 or more (when all is said and done..meaning- with all the gear). I am a little biased towards Trek just because I grew up riding them (mountain bikes/hybrids etc). and a cycle place by me that I like sells majority trek bikes. Another thing I like about Trek is that they have a whole Women’s Specific Design Bike- which is the way to go honestly– the bike is designed for a womens body- makes it easier for you to get your hands on the bars and brakes and a bunch of other stuff. I was looking at the WSD 2.1 and 1.2. The 2.1 was more expensive and the guy at the place said honestly… as a new road biker…you wont even notice the difference between the 1.2 and 2.1 – the 1.2 is a starter bike but it is a fantastic bike. So I went with that one. Definitely buy your bike from a place that knows what they are talking about. They fit me for my bike, watched me ride it outside and made the necessary adjustments before letting me take it home. Not only that- but if i ever have a question or something feels weird with the settings on the bike- or a need a tune up- i bring it right into them and they will help me. i paid 830 for the bike- its 2009….i would suggest trying to find earlier models of the same bike- because its cheaper. they unfortunately did not have a 2008 but instead he gave me 100 dollars worth of free gear (a computer for the bike, pedals, water bottle holder). So when buying the bike definitely try to make some sort of deal with the guy- kinda like buying a car?

My mom had a 150$ gift certificate to the bike shop so i only ended up paying like 750$ great deal. hope that helps!

Cinnamon Roll Lara bar sounds delicious! I have yet to try that one.
A few days of “falling off the wagon” isn’t going to effect you. Just keep going and you will get back on your normal track!!

hey, at least you had a wonderful weekend! a bit of indulging won’t do you any harm. Don’t fret about it, it will only give you unnecessary stress. Just eat healthily and normally again and you’ll be fine!
    I’m not such a big fan of larabars, actually…plus it’s a bit expensive for me…I’m a cheap girl! 😉
