A soooooooo good day June 18, 2009

Hey dudes and dudettes!  It’s Thursday, which means tomorrow is Friday.  Let’s give it up!!!

This morning started off on a most delicious note.  I took a nod from Miss Kath’s breakfast of yore…I had PB+B toast, but this time the banana was mashed.  Topped with a drizzle of honey and cinnamon, it was sooooooo good!  (I emphasize the soooooooo!)

For snacky time, I thought I was a genius.  I wanted one of my childhood faves – Ants on a Log – so I was like, genius!  If I put the PB in a baggie, I can pipe it in the celery, making virtually no mess.  It was such a good idea in theory until I squeezed the bag so hard, it busted and peanut butter went everywhere, haha!  So needless to say, my celery, peanut butter and raisin (thanks to my coworker for the raisins!) combo was a little messier than planned…

During my lunch, I bebopped over to Kowalski’s to pick up a couple items for an uber-delicious dinner.  However, I should know better because rarely ever does Holly come out of a store with just what she went in intending to get.  This deal was sooooo good – I couldn’t pass it up!

Clif ZBars (one Blueberry, one Chocolate Brownie) -> $0.49 each
Walnut + Date Kind Bar -> $1.09
Think 5 Red Berry Bar (with 5 fruits and veggie servings!) -> $1.89
Raw Organic Food Bars (one Chocolate Coconut, one Cinnamon Raisin) -> $0.75 each

Ummm…can you say score?  I even got in a nice 20-minute power walk dashing through Kowalski’s as I tried to make it back to work in time :).  I bought this card too, because I think it’s a wonderful message, and I needed a little decoration in my cubicle…

For lunch, I mixed up a nice lil’ salad of spinach, black beans, celery, cucumber, sunflower seeds + Organicville Sesame Goddess Vinaigrette.  Of course, I couldn’t resist having my Clif ZBar in Chocolate Brownie to go along with it (klassy container, I know)…

Before I knew it, it was 3pm and another snacktime.  If you haven’t noticed, I am kind of a fan of more smaller meals spaced throughout the day.  I find that it keeps me steady and not reaching for sweets all the time if I balance my eating out that way.  Hey, it works for me!  Snacktime was obv – Chobani Blueberry Greek yogurt, blackberries/blueberries and TJ’s blueberry muesli.  Works everytime!

At 4:30pm, I skedaddled and headed on home to find it soooooooo hot + muggy outside.  I think we are supposed to get severe storms later tonight, but it was still sunny out so I could run my 5 miles (according to my Hal Higdon training chart).  Man, the run was a bit brutal.  It was so hot…I ran the first 3 miles, walked 1/4 mile, ran 1.5 miles, walked 1/2 mile, ran 1/2 mile and then walked the last 1/4 home.  I was feeling super dehydrated when I was done, so I came home to guzzle water and try my new recipe…

20-Minute Moroccan Chickpea Tagine!!!

It turned out really good actually – the prunes + cinnamon in the recipe totally made it!  That bite of sweetness along with the rest of the dish really worked.  If you like the spices/taste of Middle Eastern/North African food, I think you will really like this dish.  I gobbled it right up, wrote down the recipe then immediately came over to the computer to post it!

Now, I gots to go shower (I’m still a stinkin’ mess) then I think I might be able to do a little relaxing and maybe a couple of life maintenance errands.  Don’t forget to sign-up for the Chobani Greek Yogurt Giveaway – you have until 8am tomorrow morning!
