A Perfect Morning May 9, 2009

Seriously…this morning was almost exactly what I would describe as my ideal Saturday morning!  I slept in a bit and got up at 8:30am. I thought about making pancakes and then ultimately decided that was too much work this morning :).  I wanted breakfast…now!  Instead, I had a yummy bowl of this:

1/3 cup rolled oats + 1 tbsp. oat bran
1 tbsp. pomegranate berry hemp protein powder
1/2 banana
1/4 cup honey & oats granola
1/2 cup blackberries
1 tbsp. almond butter

Then it was off for the inaugural visit of the season to the St. Paul Farmer’s MarketAlthough it’s quite early in the season, there were TONS of flowers and yummy eats, along with some late-season parsnips, the beginning of asparagus and potatoes and LOTS of herbs.  I LOVE FARMER”S MARKETS!

Some snapshots from the market (oh how I wish I hadn’t had breakfast and instead, indulged in a hot cuppa joe and pastry treat at the market!)…

I picked up a bunch of parsnips, which I’ve never made before, along with some lovely, thin asparagus and some good ol’ Wisconsin clover honey – all for less than 10$!  Going to the farmer’s market is an awesome way to save TONS of money on produce and help the local economy in the process.

Does anyone have any fabulous recipe ideas for PARSNIPS?  Let me know please!

Unfortunately, now it’s onto cleaning everything in sight.  Watch out, this gal is on a mission!
