(More) Bachelorette Party Fun May 2, 2009

Everyone’s getting married these days, huh?  This time it was one of my college besties, who I am a bridesmaid in her wedding.  Soooo excited!  We had her wedding shower today, which also had a kitchen theme.  I can’t even begin to tell you how jealous I am of all the things she got – baking pans, crock pots, utensils, serving bowls…all of it so much fun!  But before I get to all that, let’s start back at yesterday’s eats.

I was running late Friday morning (no surprise here!) so I grabbed a quick bowl of about 1.25 cups Kashi GoLean Crunch Honey Almond Flax (one of my Favorites!) with 1 cup Silk Vanilla Soymilk and a sliced banana.


Friday is treat day, which means a medium coffee with 2% milk from Caribou Coffee – the best drip around!  For a 10am snack, another naner!



Since there is no more eating out this month :(, I packed a whole bunch of food for both lunch and dinner since I knew it was going to be a busy, busy day.  I was going to save the AB+J sandwich and berry balsamic salad (baby spinach, sunflower seeds, Wisconsin raw goat cheddar, strawberries, blackberries & balsamic vinaigrette) for dinner, but it looked TOO good.  I had to have it for lunch! With the True North almond bites, a good, filling lunch!



Since I had the big 10-miler to run today, I snacked throughout the afternoon to gear myself up for the run.  First, I had a yummy Braeburn apple (forgot to take a pic!), some organic carrots and then pre-run, a single serving of Cheez-Its and Diet Cherry Coke.  The Cheez-Its were probably not the best pre-run fuel, but they were the only halfway-decent carbs I could find in the break room vending machine!

















The 10-mile run actually went pretty well – the legs were definitely fatigued at the end but running with a buddy definitely helps things go by MUCH faster!  After the run, Jamie and I split this coconut water for a little replenishing then dug into my other meal I brought…leftover Curried Tomato Veggie Sauce with Whole Wheat Naan.  I ate it all, minus a couple bites shared with Jamie and her boyfriend :).  For dessert?  A nice lil’ handful of 3 Mission figs and some dried cranberries.
















Then perhaps, the best event of the night commenced – baking party for the wedding shower!  Between 7-Layer Bars, Strawberry Cupcakes (my contribution!), White Chocolate Cranberry Oatmeal cookies and Cinnamon Coffee Cake, it was a dangerous evening!  I stuck to the WCCO cookie dough – soooooo good!  I had about 4 dips into the bowl but probably could have eaten the whole thing!


This morning, we were up and at em’ bright and early at 7:30am to set up for the wedding shower.  Since I knew I would delving into the delicious shower brunch mid-morning, I stuck with a banana and cuppa joe with skim milk (look at the adorable cup!) for breakfast.  Trust me, all those treats were looking REALLY tempting!

The whole spread was delicious!  Here’s my brunch plate: two sliced broccoli & cheese souffle, slice cinnamon coffee cake, 1 cup fruit (grapes, strawberries, blackberries & pineapple), a couple cheese cubes and a yummy strawberry cupcake.  After that, I had a small glass lemonade and a 7-layer bar!  Gosh, I am so thankful that (a) I went on a long run yesterday, and (b) showers don’t happen every weekend!














This afternoon, I picked at 1/2 WCCO cookie, another cup or so fruit and 4 more cheese cubes. Now we are resting and relaxing before the big bachelorette party tonight – gotta have all the energy we can can!  Here are me and my ladies – Jamie on the left and the bride-to-be Jess in the middle!
